Telehealth

Telehealth is a great way to get the health care you need while still practicing social distancing.

What is telehealth?
Telehealth — sometimes called telemedicine — lets our healthcare providers care for you without an in-person office visit. It is the use of electronics to extend care when you and the provider aren’t in the same place at the same time. If you have a phone or a device with the internet, you already have everything you need to do telehealth:
  • Talk to your provider live over the phone or video chat*
  • Send and receive messages from your provider using chat messaging, email, secure messaging, and secure file exchange
  • Use remote patient monitoring so your provider can check on you at home. For example, you might use a device to gather ECG or other vitals to help your provider stay informed on your progress
* Video chat is required for appointments with PMHNP, Chandra Diebold.

What types of care can I get using telehealth?
There are a variety of appointment types that can be conducted through telehealth. Telehealth is especially helpful to monitor and improve ongoing health issues, such as medication changes or chronic health conditions. Ask your healthcare provider if telehealth is right for your health needs.

A few examples of telehealth appointments:
  • Lab test results
  • Skin conditions
  • Mental health treatment, including online therapy, counseling, and medication management
  • Recurring conditions like migraines or urinary tract infections
  • Prescription management
  • Urgent care issues like colds, coughs, and stomach aches
  • Post-procedure follow-up
  • Monitoring services that help you track your health goals

What are the benefits of telehealth?
Virtual visits are becoming increasingly popular. Although in-person visits may be necessary in certain cases, there are many benefits of telehealth care.

The benefits of telehealth include:
  • Limited physical contact reduces everyone’s exposure to COVID-19
  • Virtual visits ensure access to health care wherever you are located – at home, at work, or even in your vehicle
  • Telehealth cuts down on travel, time off from work, and the need for childcare
