Our Services

Ritchie Regional Health Center (RRHC) offers a variety of services and programs that help you with all aspects of your health. RRHC locations employ effective and highly trained physicians, family nurse practitioners, nurses, as well as specialists in psychology and dentistry. All of our services are available on a sliding fee scale for those who qualify. Ritchie Regional accepts most insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid.

Primary Care Services

We provide a full range of healthcare for the whole family. Students can be seen during school hours at our school-based sites, with parental consent. We take pride in getting to know our patients and meeting their personal needs with quality care.

Acute Care

Acute care situations occur when a patient receives active but short-term treatment for a severe injury or episode of illness, an urgent medical condition, or during recovery from surgery. Ritchie Regional will help you through an acute care incident as it occurs and in the days following.

If you are having an acute health episode, please call or text central scheduling at (304) 643-4005 or come to any one of our eight campuses for a walk-in visit. If you are having an acute health episode outside of office hours, please call the on-call nursing line at (304) 299-0904, 24/7, or dial 911.

After Hours Call Line

Sometimes you need to speak with your healthcare provider outside of business hours. Ritchie Regional understands that life happens! If you or your family member isn’t feeling well and you aren’t sure what to do, call the RRHC On-Call Nurse line 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our knowledgeable staff will listen to your concerns, help with the problem, and can offer advice on the next steps.

*Please note, our nurses are here to help, but they are unable to schedule an appointment through the After Hours Call Line.*
To contact the On-Call Nurse, call (304) 299-0904. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, go the nearest emergency room or call 911 immediately.

Allergy Injections

RRHC can accommodate your allergy injections at all eight locations and on your schedule. Students who attend the schools supported by RRHC campuses can receive their injections within the school day, removing the need for additional trips to the health clinic and allowing students to receive quick, convenient care without interrupting the school day.*

* For information on student injections and school policy, please contact your RRHC location and school administration.

Annual Wellness

Take charge of your health and come see RRHC for an annual wellness visit, screenings, and immunizations. Self-preventative healthcare, in collaboration with your primary care provider, can help you live a healthier and more self-empowered lifestyle.

You and your provider will discuss and create a plan for improving your health and preventing disease. Wellness visits are suggested on a once yearly basis, although your specific health needs may require more frequent wellness visits.

To set up a wellness visit at a Ritchie Regional Health Center near you, call or text central scheduling at (304) 643-4005.

Under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), wellness and preventative health services are categorized under Well Women, Well Child, and Adult Wellness. Find out more about these services and how you can help yourself stay healthy by going to www.healthcare.gov.

Dental

Regular visits to the dentist not only keep you smiling, they also provide you with oral health check-ups and in some cases, allow your dentist to detect or monitor other health conditions such as diabetes. Good oral health, research has shown, can help certain diseases from occurring – meaning that whole body health is directly connected to the health of your mouth!

Dental services are provided at the Doddridge County Wellness Center located behind the Doddridge County Middle School and at the West Union office. At the Doddridge County locations, Dr. Holly Haldeman-Collins provides a variety of dental services including crowns/bridges, fillings and repairs, sealants, extractions, oral cancer examinations, and dental x-ray services. Currently Dr. Holly Haldeman-Collins does not perform root canals or fittings for dentures or partials. However, referrals to collaborating oral health professionals allows patients to receive these services when needed. We also have a full time registered dental hygienist, Sarah Bartley. Sarah provides dental cleanings for both children and adults, examinations, and x-ray services.

We also provide services to the students of Doddridge County Schools. Students are required to have a completed dental consent form in order to be seen by the dental staff at the Wellness Center location. Consent forms are sent home with student packets at the beginning of each school year and must be completed and signed by parent or legal guardian , for the student to receive services at the Wellness Center.

** Many of the services provided by Dr. Holly Haldeman-Collins are available on a sliding fee scale to those patients who qualify. At this time crowns/bridges are NOT available on a sliding fee scale. For more information or to find out if you qualify, contact Doddridge County School Based Wellness center location by calling 304-873-1401.

Family Planning

Ritchie Regional Health Center offers family planning services at our Harrisville Campus and Parkersburg South School-Based Campus.

Under the federal Affordable Care Act (ACA), patients with insurance or Medicaid can receive coverage for contraceptive methods and counseling for all women, as prescribed by a health care provider. More information concerning the ACA provisions for family planning can be found in the Family Planning Worksheet.

Family planning services include:
  • Hormonal methods, like birth control pills and vaginal rings
  • Emergency contraception
  • Patient education and counseling

A complete list of approved contraceptives is located on the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) Birth Control: Medicines To Help You webpage.

For information on your right to medical privacy in situations associated with family planning or other medical services you receive, check out the WV Department of Health & Human Resources HIPAA website.

Hepatitis C Treatment

Hepatitis C treatment is now available at RRHC with APRN, Lisa Straight.

Through training completed in cooperation with the WV Rural Health Association and the WVU School of Medicine, hepatitis C treatment can be completed in as little as 10-12 weeks at RRHC.

Patients will be tested by bloodwork for active hepatitis C as well as overall liver health. If eligible, authorization from insurance will be obtained for hepatitis C medication, typically oral medication, daily, for 8-12 weeks. This medication has a 95% cure rate and is well tolerated. Follow-up lab work 12 weeks after medication is completed, is used to show cure of hepatitis C.

Patients must not be currently abusing any illicit substance (excluding marijuana) or alcohol in the past 3 months to qualify for treatment.

Please call or text 304-643-4005 for more information.

Immunizations

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends vaccinations from birth through adulthood to provide a lifetime of protection against many diseases and infections, such as influenza, pneumococcal disease, human papillomavirus, and hepatitis A and B. Yet many individuals are not vaccinated as recommended, leaving them needlessly vulnerable to illness and long-term suffering. Healthy habits such as eating right, exercising, and regular health screens are vital to your overall well being and vaccinations are a key part.
Ritchie Regional Health Center provides vaccination services for all patients, birth through adulthood, at all seven locations.

School-based campuses offer vaccinations to students, staff, and faculty, even if RRHC is not their primary medical home. Certain vaccinations are required at some grade levels in order for students to attend school, so check with your child’s primary care provider to be sure they are up-to-date.

Lab Services

In collaboration with LabCorp, Ritchie Regional offers laboratory services and on-site lab draws at all seven of its campuses. Although testing services are available for a multitude of conditions, some of the more common lab services utilized at RRHC campuses include Types 1 & 2 Diabetes, Allergies, Arthritis, and Urinary Tract Infections (UTI).

For questions, please call or text 304-643-4005.

Mental Health

Your mental health is a key component to our overall health. Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make healthy choices. Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood.

Mental health services are provided by Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Chandra Diebold. Chandra sees patients via telehealth (video chat required), helping patients 18 years old and older with psychiatric disorders such as depression, anxiety, mood disorders, and many other mental health issues.

For more information or to schedule an appointment, call 304-643-4005.

Podiatry

Referrals

In instances where specialty health providers are necessary for your individual health, a written order from your primary care doctor directing you to see a specialist or get certain medical services may occur. RRHC works with local, regional, state, and out-of-state health care providers to support your patient centered healthcare plan. In these instances, your primary care provider works with RRHC case managers and clinical support staff to connect and collaborate with specialists to help you get the care you need.

For questions concerning the referral process, or to inquire about collaborating specialist in your area, call or text RRHC at (304) 643-4005. Our friendly nursing staff can help you find and set up referrals with the specialist you need.

Sports Physicals

Whether your child is going off to camp or college, or you have an annual work or CDL physical to complete, Ritchie Regional can help! All seven locations perform routine physicals.  Additionally, students can receive their physical during school hours, with no need to take time off or requiring them to miss a portion of the school day. Be sure to complete the RRHC Student Physical Permission Slip before coming in for your physical.

Physical exams required for activities such as those listed above can be counted as a patient’s annual wellness checkup, as encouraged by your provider. An annual Wellness check-up is covered under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and does not require a co-pay.

Telehealth

What is Telehealth?
Telehealth is the use of electronics to extend care when you and the provider aren’t in the same place at the same time. If you have a phone or a device with the internet, you already have everything you need to do telehealth:
  • Talk to your provider live over the phone or video chat
  • Send and receive messages from your provider using chat messaging, email, secure messaging, and secure file exchange
  • Use remote patient monitoring so your provider can check on you at home. For example, you might use a device to gather ECG or other vitals to help your provider stay informed on your progress.
Click here to view our provider's telehealth links.

Walk-Ins

Ritchie Regional Health Center provides medical services to patients through a centralized scheduling structure that allows its patients to set up convenient and local appointments with the provider they choose. No appointment? No problem! Walk-in patients are welcome at all seven campuses.

Walk-in patients are evaluated on an individual basis and evaluated by a nurse. Patients are seen and added into the schedule with consideration of their current health condition and will be seen by a health care provider when possible.

X-Ray Services

With recently upgraded equipment, RRHC provides x-ray services out of the Harrisville Campus, producing results in an hour or less.

340B Pharmacy

The 340B Drug Pricing Program requires drug manufacturers to provide outpatient drugs to eligible health care organizations/covered entities at significantly reduced prices. As a federally qualified health center, RRHC is able to qualify for these discounts, which help our patients receive the medication they need.

This program only applies to medications prescribed by Ritchie Regional Health Center providers. All patients of RRHC are eligible for these discounts, regardless of age or income. Currently, RRHC is participating in this program with Walgreens, Kroger, and Walmart.
